A Light in Dark Places

Right now it's 12:15a and I'm watching the Penguins just finish double overtime.... if they lose they go home... if they win they are still alive in the Stanley Cup Finals.... they are exhausted.... but they are not quitting but giving every last ounce of energy they have.... going into these missions trips just days away for Panama and a month for Nicaragua... i pray that we will give it our all.... our prayers, our energy, and our hearts..... i think we should live every day of our lives the same way.... so win or lose for the Penguins... i pray that we give our best to God... every day.... I'm thankful for the opportunities he gives us.... let's make the most of them.... He's given us this one life on earth.... let's make the most of it... and make it count for eternity....

PAGE TURNER

I thought i've done everything in a wedding there is to do... best man, groomsman, pull the runner, light the candles, perform the ceremony, read scripture, give a purity ring speech, mc the reception.... but today i had a new experience that i have never done... page turner for the pianist (Amber).... concentration, limber fingers, and alert to all that is going on around me... it sounds easy but not as easy as some might think... it's like a good sound man... no one knows he's there until he messes up.... we'll just so you know i rocked it... it can be a thankless job but i see a future in it... so if you know anyone getting married soon and they need a page turner... i might be a little ahead of myself but i calling myself a professional page turner... maybe an organization will form out of it... the potential is endless.... lastly i have a new appreciation for the song by Bob Seger "turn the page"

2008-09 STEELERS will be 11-5

I love football season and especially the Pittsburgh Steelers... When I saw the schedule I was like wow can it get any harder than this... they are playing almost every playoff team from last season. As much as I want them to have an amazing record... i want them to win the Super Bowl. So if playing all the tough teams in the league all in the same regular season gives them a better chance to do that than so be it... by the way i loved their draft choices... it will be a great season

WOW... I'M STILL AMAZED THAT THE BIGGEST SHOW ON TV... SANG ONE OF THE BIGGEST WORSHIP SONGS OF THE 90'S!! AND PROBABLY THE BEST VERSION I'VE EVER HEARD!! I'M GLAD THEY GOT IT RIGHT ON THURSDAY!!

LEFT OR RIGHT?

I remember on 10.02.07 @ 9a starting my trip to my new life in Harrisburg, PA (Camp Hill to be exact). So many emotions of leaving a place you've been for almost 9 years to a place you've never lived before. Having people that know you, trust you and love you.... to a place where you have to prove that all over again. It would have been easy to turn left and go back to that safe place but I know God has big plans in going right. He made it evident by us selling our house on the last day that Amber was there before she made the trek out to Harrisburg. We found a nice home that meets our needs well and a church that we believe will make an impact in this community. This past Sunday night at our youth prayer service... I was reading over some notes from our youth convention that just occurred... the speaker said "you can never preach to a city until you weep for it." I've practiced that in foreign countries as we have started many of our trips going to the highest point we can find and praying over that city. This past Sunday night I opened the blinds on a window in our youth sanctuary and began to realize we are that highpoint that overlooks our city and we must began to weep for it...
I must began to weep for it!!! We will see a move of God.... I believe that with all my heart!!!

american idol

It's amazing after a long Tuesday how much i enjoy coming home... getting the girls to bed.... and watch American Idol with Amber... I've been trying to decide what my favorite part is besides watching it with Amber. Most would say the honesty of Simon Cowell... but for me its watching people living out their ultimate dream. I know I am learning so much about myself but I feel like one of the things that I am called to do is help students fulfill their dreams and believe in them.
So I am making my pick for the American Idol winner right now........... David Cook. He will prove to the world that Chris Daughtry was the real winner two years ago.... Remember you heard it here first....

asking great questions

I had my debut acting performance at CLA... my big five lines... which was just fine with me... coming off our big youth convention weekend. My daughter Summer (5) decided she wanted to stay with mommy in big church. So she got to see me on the stage acting... my big part was coming out of the tomb... not a Jesus... but as an investigator who discovered the linen strips that wrapped the body and the burial cloth on his head.... all folded neatly and left behind... (that was my second line almost verbatim) Summer had so many questions of what else was in the tomb... it was great to talk to her about that... in fact after lunch we went back to the church so she could look inside... to her amazement and disappointment it was mostly 2x4's ....
She was asking so many great questions... it made me think as adults are we still asking a lot of questions. I read somewhere a while back that you ask more questions between the ages of 3-7 than we ask the rest of our lives... I want to keep learning and growing... I want to be the one still asking the hard questions about the mysteries of life... and hopefully be able to answer some for others.
